Job Description
Role: Systems Administrator
Location: Downtown Minneapolis, MN
Length: Full-time permanent on-site W2
Salary Range: Based on experience and qualifications

Required Skills
- 5+ years Linux server and 3+ years Windows server experience
- Strong knowledge of web technologies
- HTTP (Apache, squid), Load Balancing
- Domain Name Service
- FTP
- Mail (SMTP and POP3)
- TCP/IP
- Microsoft SQL and MySQL server knowledge
- Strong problem solving and trouble shooting
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly
Desirable Skills
- Storage Area Network (SAN) experience
- Active Directory
- Network Administration/Management
- Workstation Administration
Duties and Responsibilities
- 24/7 on-call rotation
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members including advice and recommendations involving complex technical issues
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
- Execute ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization including configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions
- Carry out daily system monitoring which includes verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware server resources, systems and key processes, review systems and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Complete regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
- Provide Tier III support
- Repair and recover information from hardware or software failures
- Install new or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage
- Contribute to and maintain system standards
- Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks, identifying approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
Education
Bachelor's degree with coursework in Computer Science or Management Information Systems. Candidates with equivalent job-related experience in a position with similar responsibilities will also be considered.
